Spring is here and the kids want to be outside. How can you continue with your
home reading routine? Here are a few tips:
1. Offer interesting titles – Instead of just picking up any book within reach,
try to offer a book that speaks to the interests of your child. Do they like
fairy tales or non-fiction? Would they prefer to read about animals or cars?
2. Set up a reading routine – Do whatever works best in your day, that could
be in the morning, right after supper or perhaps just before bed.
3. Read on a device – There are so many free reading apps as well as the
option of borrowing books online from the Wheatland Regional library.
YouTube also has a good selection of read aloud books.
4. Outdoor reading activities – this can be as simple as singing a song while
you push your child on the swing or playing I spy as you are going on a walk
to the park.
